Jerry Hernandez

Executive Director

Jerry is a veteran of creating and implementing educational content for organizations and individuals. He believes the more we give, the happier we feel.  With over 25 years of volunteer work both nationally and internationally, Jerry has experienced, first hand, the profound impact education has on individuals, families, and communities.

While originally from Brooklyn, New York, he lived and worked in developing countries throughout Central America as part of an International NGO. During his time there, he worked as part of an international team of volunteers focusing on developing and implementing literacy programs for children and adults, as well as family counseling and teen suicide prevention. Many of Jerry’s programs are still in use and are helping at-risk teens to this day.  In addition to his educational work, he spent several decades in corporate IT sales in Arizona.

In 2017, Jerry brought his experience in marketing, business management and passion for community service here to Steamboat and is looking forward to contributing to the cultural exchange between the diverse communities in Northwest Colorado.

Jerry holds a degree in Religious Studies, is an accredited DEI practitioner, and is a certified Instructional Systems Designer. He currently serves on the Yampa Valley Community Foundation's Board of Directors. His favorite quote is:  “Between stimulus and response, there is a space.  In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”  - Viktor Frankl
